Thoughts on Georgia

Written by Sam on August 11th, 2008

It would appear by today’s news that Russia has made an all out invasion of Georgia.  The country is an ally of the U.S.  Should we come to their aid and engage in a fight with a powerful country like Russia?  Do we even have the resources to do so with the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq?  Do you think Bush would even authorize such an action?

This is how Germany started in the 1930s.

Hi, everyone! I’m back from a fun summer playing with sharks in the Florida keys, and am finally connected to the internet again. I’ll be bothering you guys pretty regularly for a while now.

Anyway… I got back in touch with the real world in the middle of this conflict. What the heck is going on? Was Russia provoked in any way, or is there any history between these countries? Georgia’s not the same thing as Chechnya, is it?

From what little I’ve seen it seems like Russia is behaving in a way that makes me more than a little uncomfortable.
