Man, the Left isn’t even kinda-sorta suggesting it anymore… Jacob Weisberg at Slate breaks down why, despite Obama’s far-left politics, mainstream American’s unfamiliarity with him, many Democrats’ hesitance about him, and his slim resume, there is simply no reason other than racism that Sen. John McCain would be able to beat him.

Are they giving up the election already?  Trying to pre-empt the Obama campaign’s obituary and blame any factor or anyone but the Democratic nominee himself?

Over the next week, as we look forward to the Republican National Convention, I’m going to post the videos of some of the most famous convention speeches.

The first is Pat Buchanan’s famous “Culture War” speech from 1992.  This speech is often maligned as seriously damaging the party’s image in the run-up to the election.

The first part of this speech is actually quite good - when Buchanan talks about Reagan’s legacy and foreign policy.  But the rest is pretty awful.

The McCain camp must have had this one ready on the back burner.
