Hey, You Know What Sounds Like A Good Idea? Let’s Attack Sarah Palin Some More, Only This Time for Giving Birth
Written by YellowJacket on September 5th, 2008You know, I disagree with people all of the time. I certainly disagree with the Left on pretty much everything. I know that some pro-abortion people like to think of Sarah Palin’s decision to have Trig anywhere from confusing to somehow wrong in their warped terminology.
For crying out loud, I don’t care if your name has an M.D. after it, Rahul K. Parikh, your decision to actually write and publish this article for anyone to read is not just perplexing in the idiotic arguments you make, but downright stupid in this election (much like Barack jumping up and down, yelling about McCain wanted to end a woman’s right to choose. We get it, you might want to shut up about it though):
As women age, the risk of bearing children with genetic problems goes up. Down syndrome is the most common of those problems. It is also known as trisomy 21. That’s because the most common reason for Down syndrome is faulty cell division (meiosis), which causes an egg to get a second copy of chromosome 21. When a sperm fertilizes the egg, the result is an extra chromosome, giving the developing fetus 47 instead of the usual 46 chromosomes in its cells.
Children with Down syndrome have a variety of problems, starting with a different and distinct look, with eyes that slant upward, smaller ears, shorter stature and some differences in the shapes of their hands and feet. They are usually developmentally delayed as well. Other medical complications can include hearing and vision problems, heart defects and a risk of thyroid disease.
It’s easy to detect Down syndrome prenatally, which is both a blessing and a curse for expectant mothers. Talk to any pregnant woman over 35 and she can tell you about getting the “Down syndrome talk.” That is, her obstetrician would categorize her pregnancy as high risk and give her varying degrees of counseling about the risks of being an “older” mom. The obstetrician would also offer, and in most cases recommend, that the mom-to-be screen the fetus for Down syndrome or other defects. (These days, all women are supposed to be offered the option to have screening. But whether doctors uniformly and consistently follow that recommendation is not clear.)
Thanks for the medical lesson Doc, I’m sure Americans everywhere are breathing sighs of relief for your oh so useful insights on the specifics of a candidate’s child. Hey, did you know that Gov. Palin might have a child who is “developmentally delayed,” and could get thyroid disease? I’m not sayin, ya know, I’m just sayin’. And then we have this:
By knowingly giving birth to a Down syndrome child, Palin represents a minority of women. A 2002 study found that about 90 percent of pregnancies in the United States where the fetus was diagnosed with Down syndrome were terminated.
Rabid anti-choice activists have called that trend eugenics via medicine. But try telling that to a mother who is told early on in her pregnancy that she will be raising a child who will have a host of medical and developmental problems, requiring intense medical and social attention for the rest of his or her life. It can be tragic and nearly impossible news to bear.
Kids with special needs require and deserve intense therapies and attention to their needs. That’s likely something Palin, with her political and social stature, can afford both financially and emotionally. But that may not be the case for other families, who have to struggle to balance work with home and family. They simply may not be up to the challenge of raising a child with Down syndrome. Sadly, kids with developmental problems like Down syndrome are at a higher risk for being abused by parents and other caregivers.
And what she has chosen to do is fantastic.
He just had to get that in there to show that he might have a heart, ya know, wouldn’t want anyone to judge him for his previously stated opinions or anything.
The love that she and her family have for Trig was clear in her speech at the Republican National Convention. It was inspirational to see a mother in a position of political power stand up for a child with special needs. But Palin was given a choice whether to have that child, something, if she had her way as a lawmaker, she wouldn’t give others. According to legal experts, should Roe v. Wade be overturned, some states could outlaw abortion for Down syndrome or other birth defects, and women wouldn’t have Palin’s choice.
She made a “choice” because she and millions of other Americans don’t think the choice is even valid to begin with. You clearly don’t understand the thinking behind the pro-life position.
So while I respect Palin’s decision to raise Trig, that’s all the respect she will get from me. I don’t see eye-to-eye with her on anything else: energy, guns, sex education and of course a woman’s right to choose. Her supporters say that Trig signals that she practices what she preaches. But her to decision to have him is also a sign of her hypocrisy.
Hey, you know what else bugs me about Palin? Just about everything else that she believes in. And since I’m a Democrat, I couldn’t help but just throw that in there, ya know, just for kicks! BUT HEY, I have an M.D. after my name - so you better take the rest of my illogical article seriously!
I’ll repeat this:
But her to decision to have him is also a sign of her hypocrisy.
What? It’s hypocritical to give birth to a child? Wow. I don’t even know what else to say about this statement because I don’t want to delve too much further into your twisted thinking.

Absolutely incredible. How many of us would survive to birth in their world? My father’s asthma? Mom’s clubbed feet?
The two things that strike me the most in her mentality are a) the definition of a certain class of person as completely unworthy of care and protection, and b) the selfishness exposed by a determination to preserve material wealth and comforts that one enjoys, even if it means ending another’s life. Truly tragic.
Politically, do the democrats really want to start trotting out women who have targeted their children for abortion due to physical abnormalities as a way to counter the feminine appeal of a Sarah Palin? For the sake of our civilization, I hope not.

They are nothing but elitist fascists.

We we were asked if we wanted to have this test done with our son. We prayed about it and decided not to have the test done. Why have the test when you plan to have and love the child? One thing the good doctor did not mention is that the test for prenatal detection of Downs is not always accurate.
It saddens me that so many lives are lost on a false premise and the selfish wants of parents.
