Pride
Written by Alex on September 5th, 2008Watching the tributes to McCain at this convention, and the speech he himself gave last night, I now feel more proud to be a Republican than at any other point in my life. That we as a party would make such a man our nominee, a man who has sacrificed so much for his country, and who believes so strongly in the greatness of America, is truly inspiring.
The contrast between him and his opponent, on this point, could not be more striking.
I’ve been critical of John McCain in the past. I didn’t vote for him in the primaries. As most readers of this site know, I actually worked for one of his opponents.
Nevertheless, on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008, I will vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin with more pride and excitement than I have ever felt in my life when casting a ballot. And for the first time in this election, I believe that he will emerge the victor.

I don’t see how more well-crafted and disingunuous words somehow suddenly make McCain honest. Anytime he articulates a conservative positon and promises to uphold it he qualifies it with weasle words, so that we won’t be able to call him a liar when he breaks those promises as he intended when he spoke them. McCain beleives in McCain’s rise to power, and understands that the constitution is an obsstacle to that. Empty words haven’t changed that. You probably used to understand that. Getting more skilled at hinding the slide down the Marxist road won’t save the GOP. Losing by a landslide in the lowest voter turnout in the history of America might. Both parties losing by a landslide to a truly conservative write-in definately would save the GOP. But with McCainichov and Obamanation being our only viable choices for president and the libs running congress the country is finished anyway.
