Frum warns against inequality

Written by Mike on September 7th, 2008

David Frum sees a bleak future for conservatives if certain socio-economic trends continue to play out.

I think he is overly pessimistic, but things have looked better.

This country is on course to be a socialist nation and mark my word, by the time I am an old man we’ll either be a clone of Europe or a banana republic with all of the unskilled laborers coming here and breeding further poverty as the author stated.

This has already been set in motion like falling dominoes. Once the first one is pushed they all drop one after another until they reach the end. It can’t be stopped. The efforts we make today are only a stop gap measure to offset this nation’s ultimate destiny a little bit longer. America was lost a long time ago.

Well I think the country’s best hope is dissolution, a fragmented nation split apart by political/cultural issues would leave a strong American nation and a socialist new Europe.

Basically we are going to have to pick what segment of society we represent on economic not cultural grounds. This is going to cause all kinds of political problems going forward for both parties.

The problem is that free market, free trade voters seem to be a dying breed in both parties. You can damage a great many aspects of your nation and the wheels will keep turning, but if you wreck the economy it all goes south very quickly.

This is an incredibly simple concept: socialism doesn’t work, capitalism does.

When the voters of this country finally have that beaten into their thick skulls then things will begin to turn for the better.
