PM
Ive gotta hit the beer store on the way home. Catch you guys tonight.
4
PM
Sam,
Some news:
http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MDAxN2M3ODRlMDE3ZmFmYzFjN2U1MWQwOTdmZmQ0NTU=
4
PM
Foxnews has Indiana results right now.
http://elections.foxnews.com/states_map/index.html
4
PM
4 is not enough this early in PA
4
PM
Maine, New Hampshire, Knetucky and Indiana are all showing results now. Northern Maine could give McCain an extra electoral vote.
4
PM
Susan Collins is looking strong in Maine right now.
4
PM
CNN has called it for Mark Warner in VA.
4
PM
How fitting that the PA election returns website is not working.
4
PM
MSNBC are citing sources that Dole has lost NC, and that turnout among blacks is extremely high.
4
PM
I figured Dole would lose.
4
PM
Black folks have turned out in georgia in pretty high numbers.
Also CNN has some amazing new technology, they have reporters being beamed into the studio in the form of holograms. Check it out at some point tonight, very cool.
4
PM
This indiana data is not encouraging in the least.
4
PM
Delaware to Obama.
4
PM
I’m watching Rove speak on FOX. Enjoying your handiwork, Karl?
Heartfelt congrats to Inhofe.
4
PM
msnbc with Shaheen over Sununu
4
PM
CNN is calling it for Lamar Alexander over Tuke in TN.
4
PM
Good to see that Carl Levin is sent back to the senate on the heels of Michigan’s booming ecomony and good times.
4
PM
lol After Granholm was reelected, too. I guess it’s all about the abortions for those voters–it certainly isn’t about the economy.
4
PM
Well, its over. President Obama. God help us all.
4
PM
Hopefully Murtha gets bounced.
4
PM
Yeah, I think with Pennsylvania going to Obama he wins - in order for McCain to win he’d have to “flip” 50 votes on Allah’s map, and FL and VA would only be 40 EVs: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/04/round-two-pa-fl-and-mo/
4
PM
As a pseudo-pennsylvanian I can tell you….You do not EVER want to be counting on PA if you are a republican.
4
PM
With respect to the map, mccain now has to carry CO and NV along with FL and VA. Or NM instead of NV.
4
PM
Right.
4
PM
Wow, huge lead for Obama in FL early. This is getting uglier than I expected it too.
4
PM
I don’t see any way McCain can win at this point.
4
PM
The panhandle hasn’t been counted yet.
4
PM
No, McCain is done barring an upset in CO and NV.
4
PM
Re: FL. True, but Obama is running 4ish pts ahead of where he should be right now.
4
PM
CNN has Michigan for Obama.
4
PM
MN for Obama as well.
4
PM
ND for McCain.
Wisconsin for Obama.
4
PM
Tom Udall wins in New Mexico.
4
PM
MSNBC called Kansas for McCain.
4
PM
Georgia for McCain.
4
PM
Murtha running 14% ahead with only 7% reporting.
4
PM
I’m suspecting that Obama will win Virginia. I remember that Allen was doing fairly well earlier in the evening… and then crashed and burned as the night wore on. I’m seeing McCain’s previously significant lead slip away almost to a tie, in a pattern similar to what I think I remember seeing in 2006.
4
PM
Yea, I think Obama is going to take VA. Northern VA always comes in late.
4
PM
Hampton Roads area is going to see record turnout.
4
PM
Fox calls OH for Obama.
4
PM
On the plus side (for Republicans), no one will have to worry about getting up late for work tomorrow because they were staying up too late watching the election returns.
4
PM
Get ready for President Obama.
I call again for a bloodletting within the GOP. Conservatives need to step up.
4
PM
CNN has called it for Pat Roberts in Kansas.
4
PM
I want to see how the other states shake out first, it is important that Obama not win by too large a margin.
4
PM
McCain has won TX.
4
PM
CNN has McCain up 55 45 in Missouri with 10% reporting.
4
PM
Chris Shays was a major RINO, I won’t miss him very much.
4
PM
Murtha up 58 - 42 with 27 percent in. Is it possible that the people of PA-12 are that damn stupid?
4
PM
AJC has Marshall-D 56% over Goddard-R 44% in GA district 8 with 72% reported.
This was one of the big opportunities for the GOP to pick up a house seat.
4
PM
Walhberg-R 47% is losing to Schauer-D 48% in MI-7 with 24% reporting.
4
PM
We are on the verge of losing PA-6.
4
PM
CNN is calling the entire election now for Obama officially. Of course it has been over for some time now.
4
PM
Washington, Oregon and Hawaii are being called for Obama now by CNN.
4
PM
The scene at Grant Park is nuts. I have been there and it is incredible how many people they have there.
4
PM
Looks like Shadegg survives out in AZ-3.
4
PM
“We’re going to lose the 2nd Congressional District in Alabama.”
We are also losing the the AL-5th as well Sam. Ugly day for the GOP.
4
PM
Kanjorski wins PA-11. Murtha survives. Looks like Gerlach will win.
4
PM
Lou Barletta losing is a tough blow.
4
PM
CNN has Arizona for McCain.
4
PM
AL-05 was never ours, though.
4
PM
CNN has Colorado for Obama.
4
PM
But we came close to winning it. We had a strong chance, that district has no business being democratic.
4
PM
Pretty much a total sweep tonight. Hopefully Coleman pulls out his senate race. Massachusetts voted down repealing the state income tax, decriminalized pot and banned dog racing.
4
PM
Landrieu survives. Damn it.
4
PM
Coleman is ahead of Franken by about 500 votes right now.
4
PM
VA-2 is about to be lost as well.
4
PM
“Massachusetts voted down repealing the state income tax, decriminalized pot and banned dog racing.”
So they got all three issues wrong? No dog racing, but weed is legal? WTF is happening to this country?
4
PM
Yea, the income tax repeal went down 70-30.
I was actually in favor of the dog racing ban. Im a softie for the animals.
5
AM
I love dogs too, but banning dog tracks entirely? Why not just regulate it to prevent abuse to the animals. Grey Hounds are bred to race!
5
AM
The dog track is how I spend every Thanksgiving down in Florida.
5
AM
Anyone know why there was no race in LA-02 and LA-04? How can there be no race??
5
AM
True. Although the last thing MA needs is another “Dept of ….”. I still cant believe the income tax thing went down so big. Its 5.25% here.
5
AM
Bill Sali is down in ID-1, 53% to 47% with 22% reporting.
5
AM
I can’t believe that goober Joe Biden is going to be VP.
5
AM
McClintock is up 51% to 49% with 26% reporting in CA-4.
5
AM
I am assuming the “Independence” party candidate in the minnesota senate race is drawing votes off of Coleman?
5
AM
I think he’s taking votes from Coleman and Franken.
5
AM
that senate race is separated by 105 votes right now
5
AM
Rossi vs. Gregoire is neck and neck with 35% reporting with the race being at 50%-50%. This would be a nice GOP victory out on the west coast.
5
AM
We failed to take GA-8 from Jim Marshall.
5
AM
Colemen leading by 14000 votes with 76% in.
5
AM
I must say I was really impressed by John McCain’s concession speech. He really is a classy guy. He even quieted the folks in his crowd that booed Obama’s name.
5
AM
I just punched up this Independence party candidate’s website from the Minnesota senate race. Pretty interesting actually. First issue……..term limits for legislators!
5
AM
“Colemen leading by 14000 votes with 76% in.”
Hennepin county is only 40% reported and Carlton county (Duluth) is only 49% reported and St. Louis County (the rest of Duluth) is only 18% reported. This is bad news for Coleman.
5
AM
Yea, i know. 20K vote lead right now. 78% in.
5
AM
Uh oh… Chris Hackett, STG founder Mark Harris’ candidate, has lost to Democrat Chris Carney.
5
AM
RINO Gordon Smith is tied 50-50 out in OR.
5
AM
They are calling the Washington Govs race for Gregoire 52% to 48% with only 43% reporting.
5
AM
Coleman is up 55,000 now.
5
AM
The numbers from Hennepin and Duluth are unmoved though, I have a feeling a blue tidal wave is on its way.
5
AM
Hennepin and Carlton results are coming in and now Franken is only down by 7,000 or so. St. Louis county is still unchanged at 18% reported, look for the race to narrow further.
5
AM
What a sick joke that Franken’s going to win.
Sorry. I know we’re all tired of the “joke” puns about the Coleman-Franken race.
5
AM
It isn’t over yet, but this race is going to be extremely tight.
5
AM
It is a damn good thing that Obama didn’t need to rely on Missouri to win because if this had been a normal election he would have lost. McCain is going to pull out a win there.
5
AM
Both Ted Stevens and Don Young are ahead at this point. Disgusting.
5
AM
St. Louis county votes are pouring in and Franken is now less than 1,000 votes away from the lead.
5
AM
I can’t believe the Colorado proposition to ban affirmative action didn’t pass. It’s disgusting that the voters chose to preserve racial discrimination in their state’s laws.
5
AM
Gordon Smith trails by less that 4,000 votes.
5
AM
Oh, no. Franken’s only a few hundred votes behind Coleman, with 89 percent of the precincts reporting. I think it’s just about over. I think Franken is going to win.
Okay… So I’m thinking that the Dems will get 59 of the Senate seats, based on my assumption that, of the four remaining Republican Senate candidates, only Chambliss will prevail. (Though I know that Stevens is *currently* ahead.)
5
AM
Fox News thinks Coleman is going to pull it out because they said most of the precincts left to report are suburban Minneapolis in the 3rd Congressional District in which the Republican won.
5
AM
Sam: Don’t tease. I’m no fan of Coleman’s, but I hate Franken with the fire of a thousand suns.
Yay… Coleman’s up by a little more than two thousand.
I bet this wouldn’t have been such a nail-biter if McCain had picked Pawlenty instead of Palin. Not that I would’ve voted for McCain anyway, but I don’t want the ‘rats to have 60 Senate seats.
5
AM
I was wondering, does MN have to have a runoff if neither man reaches 50%?
5
AM
The problem is that like I said, some strong Franken counties still have to report some big numbers, Carlton, Hennepin, St. Louis and Itasca all have some big numbers yet to add to the final, they are all trending strongly for Franken. Coleman should be glad he is up by a few thousand, he is going to need it.
5
AM
fwiw Missouri’s St. Louis county just brought in its final votes and Obama now trails McCain by less than a thousand votes, folks this would normally be a recount election like 2000 in a normal year.
5
AM
Coleman’s lead has now widened to 2,000.
5
AM
Coleman ahead by 3,600.
5
AM
I’ve been watching the Senate race so long I didn’t notice Marilyn Musgrave lost her bid for reelection. That’s sad.
5
AM
Ugh. I can’t take any more. I have to be at work in less than seven hours. Time for bed. I’m getting too worked up over the fate of some not-all-that-conservative politicians anyway. Have a good night.
May the Right be reborn. Soon.
5
AM
Check out Missouri and thank God it didn’t have to decide the race:
Obama: 1,426,381
McCain: 1,426,779
Kansas City’s votes are now in and Obama is maxed out. Only two McCain counties have any votes left to report.
5
AM
94% reporting, Coleman has only a 70 some vote lead.
5
AM
NV-3 just fell to the Dems.
5
AM
VA-2 goes down as well, Nye has officially won.
5
AM
Coleman now losing by 1,010 votes.
5
AM
It has just occurred to me that I may be blogging solely for the benefit of myself here. I’ll call it master-blogging, it’s still fun because I know what I like best
5
AM
The GOP has lost OH-1.
5
AM
Franken now leads by 1003 votes, with 96% reporting.
5
AM
OH-16 is now also in the Democrat column.
5
AM
MI-7 have fallen to the enemy and a Club for Growth conservative Walberg has been defeated.
5
AM
Interesting… it seems that the New York Times has called Minnesota for Coleman, but no other news outlet I can find has…
Mike, I hope you got some sleep last night, it looks like you were up late.
5
AM
Jeez this is close:
Coleman: 1,210,790
Franken: 1,210,028
99% of precincts reporting.
5
AM
Also, looks like Stevens the convict might hold onto his seat:
Stevens: 106,351 48%
Begich: 102,998 47%
99% of precincts reporting.
Who knows, with Gov. Palin on the ticket, this could’ve helped him out on the margin and we may just hold his seat. When he gets finally tossed, we can get a real conservative in there. Oh, and preferably not corrupt, ya know.
