Leadership Changes in the Georgia Senate

Written by YellowJacket on November 19th, 2008

Since quite a few of the main posters here reside in or are from Georgia, here’s the update on the leadership changes in the State Senate after the Republican caucus meeting:

President Pro Tempore - now Senator Tommie Williams, former Senate Majority Leader.  Nathan Humphrey, a former SaveTheGOP blogger, is Senator Williams’ Chief of Staff.  Senator Williams was a Co-Chair for the Fred Thompson campaign in Georgia.  Senator Eric Johnson is stepping down from the post, who has been an able leader in the Senate.  Senator Johnson was a Georgia Legislator for Fred.

Majority Leader - Senator Chip Rogers, who is a hard working conservative.  He was the Executive Director and Communications Director for the Fred Thompson campaign in Georgia.

Majority Whip - Senator Mitch Seabaugh.  He was also a Georgia Legislator for Fred.

Caucus Chairman - Senator Dan Moody, who represents myself and my family in the state Senate, and used to go to my church.  He is a solid conservative as well.  He is continuing in this role.

Caucus Vice-Chairman - Senator Judson Hill.

And, Senator Bill Cowsert will serve as Caucus Secretary, and he was yet another Legislator for Fred.

Thanks to PeachPundit for the information.

Chip Rodgers was also behind the toughest anti-illegal-immigration legislation of any state. For that and many other reasons he is a great man.

According to a comment at Peach Pundit, Eric Johnson is stepping down so he can run for Lt. Governor.
